ACU LECTURESHIP SCHEDULED FOR SEPT 17-20
The time of year that ACU will have their lectureship has been changed.
The 89th Abilene Christian University Lectureship is scheduled for Sept. 17-20 and the theme is "The Truth Shall Make You Free."

As a boy I have fond memories of the lectureship. I thought it was so cool going inside the big tent (they should bring the tent back), all the churches in Abilene would cancel services to go to evening lecture that night and the singing was wonderful especially the church of Christ national anthem: "There Is A God, He His Alive." The preaching was loud, upbeat and inspiring. Of course as a kid I never went to any classes just evening worship at Moody. I just remember it always rained during lectureship. I guess they finally decided to change it because of the weather maybe.

I didn't attend ACU, but my wife and most of her family did. She was a Siggy, and most of the guys in the family were Galaxy.

I went to Lubbock Chrisitan instead of Abilene Christian just wanted to get out of Abilene after living there for 18 years. So went to small Christian University in the big city of Lubbock.
Living in Abilene we went to Lectureships every year. It was a big deal in Abilene.
The ACU lectures are good. But the cream of the crop in CofC lectures is Pepperdine baby!!
But I do wish I could be there. But my elders will probably say "you have already been to Tulsa and Pepperdine . . . so stay at home" :(

I have only been able to be a part of ACU's lectureship the past 2 years as I have been going to school and working here-but from what I have seen, it has been awesome!! I am looking forward to being able to participate in 2 lectureships this year! And yes, I think one of the main reasons that they changed it is so the old people would not fall on the ice anymore ;) It was also a huge undertaking to do Sing Song/Lectureship back to back.
